To me, EWP is: EWP Architects is a tight-knit group of friends and colleagues, where I’ve learned just as much from them as I have from my two decades of professional practice. Collectively, we bring our unique experiences and diverse knowledge to help clients chart a clear path forward, often identifying what the project really needs to be. Our expertise comes from a focus on workplace. We excel in crafting tailored strategies for each project or challenge, all while prioritizing effective communication within the team. Above all, EWP is a place where I can direct my passion for problem-solving, work, and architecture.
My path to architecture and design: Thinking back, I’ve always had an affinity for the mechanics of things. My dad was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades. Building a family cottage with him, at age twelve, was a pivotal experience. In high school, I discovered technical drawing and swiftly moved on to CAD (for MS-DOS). It was during college that my love for design and architecture truly ignited. My early career was spent working in educational and municipal buildings. These experiences taught me the intricacies of building while I refined my design process. Now, even after having spent more than 20 years focused on workplace architecture, I continue to be excited by the ever-evolving nature of the office. Yes, having an office is still critical to success.
My role at EWP: As Managing Principal, I am first and foremost dedicated to creating an environment where my team can succeed. Ensuring their success translates to our clients getting our best. Teaching, mentoring, and directing each have their time. In my role as a project principal, I steer the overall direction of the project, keeping an eye on big picture goals, and helping navigate challenges.
Outside of EWP: I have two boys, and outside of EWP, they occupy all my time. We are involved in scouting where I served as the scoutmaster of their troop. Luke has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and Noah is nearly there. Whenever possible, I love to travel and see the world. I’m always looking forward to my next trip.
